Revyme
vs
Wix Studio

The open sourceWix Studio alternative.

Wix Studio is Wix’s platform for agencies and designers — a serious step up from classic Wix, and still entirely inside Wix. Revyme offers the same visual freedom with a different ending: an open-source builder whose output is a real Next.js codebase you own.

Wix Studio

When Wix Studio is the better pick

Choose Wix Studio if you want an all-in-one managed platform — hosting, ecommerce, bookings, email marketing — and your clients are comfortable living permanently inside the Wix ecosystem.

Revyme

When Revyme is the better pick

Choose Revyme if the deliverable is a website your client actually owns: open-source tooling, real Next.js code, self-hosting, and no platform the site can never leave.

No export button. Not even a limited one

Wix offers no code export — not in classic Wix, not in Wix Studio. The site runs on Wix servers or it does not run at all. Third-party crawlers can scrape a published site into static HTML, but that is a snapshot of rendered markup, not a project anyone can maintain.

Revyme keeps the visual workflow and inverts the ownership: the canvas edits a real Next.js project the whole time. Export it, version it in Git, deploy it on your own infrastructure — the site exists independently of the tool that made it.

What it costs, structurally.

Wix Studio

Wix Studio

Wix Studio is a per-site subscription with paid tiers for business and commerce features. Every client site is a permanent monthly bill — and because nothing can be exported, the bill runs for as long as the site needs to exist.

Revyme

Revyme

The Revyme builder is free and open source, with optional per-site cloud plans (Free, Lite, Pro, Studio). Export the Next.js code at any point and host a site yourself for the cost of your own infrastructure. See pricing.

Moving from Wix Studio.

01

There is no Wix export to import, so start with the content: recreate your collections in Revyme’s CMS and move the copy and media across.

02

Rebuild the design on the canvas — or import it from Figma if that is where it started.

03

Point the domain at Revyme cloud or your own server once the rebuild is live. After that, leaving is never a rebuild again — the code comes with you.

Frequently asked.

Can you export code from Wix Studio?

No. Wix — including Wix Studio — offers no code export of any kind; sites only run on Wix servers. Third-party tools can scrape rendered HTML from a published site, but that is not a maintainable codebase. Revyme exports a real Next.js project.

Is Wix Studio open source?

No. Wix Studio is a proprietary hosted platform. Revyme is open source — the builder is public on GitHub and free to self-host.

Can a Wix website be moved to another host?

Not as a working site. Content has to be recreated elsewhere by hand or via scraping tools. Revyme sites move freely because code export is built in, not bolted on.

What is the best open source Wix Studio alternative?

For design-led sites, Revyme: a comparable visual workflow — canvas, breakpoints, CMS, animations — plus what Wix will never offer: a real Next.js codebase you own.
